Live Debate tonight

Greg Johnson stepped up to meet the challenge I threw down on the Darkstream the other night. Tara McCarthy is hosting the debate at 7 PM.

The official topic being debated is: "Are National Socialists a legitimate element of the Alt-Right?"

Greg Johnson argues Yes.

Vox Day argues No.

Terror attack in Barcelona

Another truck attack, this time kills 13+ in Spain:
A van plowed into crowds in the heart of Barcelona on Thursday and Spanish media reported at least 13 people were killed, in what police said they were treating as a terrorist attack.

The death toll was reported by Cadena Ser radio, citing police sources. Police said some people were dead and injured but did not confirm the number of casualties. They said were searching for the driver of the van.

Spanish newspaper El Periodico said two armed men were holed up in a bar in Barcelona's city center, and reported gunfire in the area, although it did not cite the source of the information.

It was not immediately clear whether the incidents were connected.

A source familiar with the initial U.S. government assessment said the incident appeared to be terrorism, and a White House spokeswoman said President Donald Trump was being kept abreast of the situation.
They have to go back. What other answer is there? And where is El Cid? Where is St. James Matamoros?

To be a National Socialist in the West today, you have to be so mentally retarded that Hitler would have euthanized you under the Lebensunwertes Leben principle.

That, my friends, is irony.

Republicans for Antifa

The Republican establishment has gone openly pro-Communist:
As James Bond’s nemesis Auric Goldfinger famously observed, “Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence. The third time is enemy action.” On Tuesday evening, three prominent Republicans — Senator John McCain, Senator Marco Rubio, and 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney — endorsed the left-wing media’s preferred narrative and embraced the masked thugs of Antifa as heroes.

McCain and Romney used almost identical language, bending their knees to the media narrative that only two factions were present in Charlottesville during the awful events of last weekend: white supremacist Nazis and “Americans standing up to defy hate and bigotry.”

Mitt Romney ✔ @MittRomney
No, not the same. One side is racist, bigoted, Nazi. The other opposes racism and bigotry. Morally different universes.

John McCain ✔ @SenJohnMcCain
There's no moral equivalency between racists & Americans standing up to defy hate& bigotry. The President of the United States should say so

Neither of these gentlemen can claim ignorance of Antifa; the reason both of them piped up is that President Donald Trump mentioned them in his Tuesday press conference. Left-wing politicians and media personalities responded by thundering “there is only one side” for all right-thinking Americans to be on, because there was only one squad of villains on the ground in Charlottesville.

McCain and Romney obediently bent the knee to this narrative. At the very least, they’re agreeing Antifa should be invisible, accepting the incredibly stupid idea that calling out their violence somehow dilutes criticism of the Tiki Torch Terror. Mentioning Antifa is damned under the left’s new doctrine of “Whataboutism,” which originally held that history began with the inauguration of President Trump and all prior Democrat sins were absolved, but has mutated into an unlimited free pass for the #Resistance to do whatever it takes to bring down the Trump administration without a peep of protest from tame Republicans.

Senator Marco Rubio went much, much further. He launched a brief tweetstorm that completely absolved Antifa of all responsibility for its actions in Charlottesville, blaming all violence “one hundred percent” on those who organized the events leading to the “Charlottesville terrorist attack”.
A photo from the Communist 3rd International. Notice the Antifa flag at the center. This is what the Republican establishment now supports. This is why the Alt-Right is not only inevitable, it is the only real Right that remains.

From the Nazi's mouth

A number of historically ignorant defenders of national socialism have tried to claim that it is not a left-wing socialist ideology. This is utterly and absolutely false, and can be easily and conclusively proven to be false in a number of ways, including by reading a number of direct quotes from Mr. Hitler himself. Note, in particular, that the ultimate goal is "international socialism".
  • It is not Germany that will turn Bolshevist but Bolshevism that will become a sort of National Socialism. Besides, there is more that binds us to Bolshevism than separates us from it…. I have always made allowance for this circumstance, and given orders that former Communists are to be admitted to the party at once. The petit bourgeois Social-Democrat and the trade union boss will never make a National Socialist, but the Communist always will.
  • We National Socialists wish precisely to attract all socialists, even the Communists; we wish to win them over from their international camp to the national one.
  • I have learned a great deal from Marxism as I do not hesitate to admit… The difference between them and myself is that I have really put into practice what these peddlers and pen pushers have timidly begun. The whole of National Socialism is based on it… National Socialism is what Marxism might have been if it could have broken its absurd and artificial ties with a democratic order.
  • After all, that’s exactly why we call ourselves National Socialists! We want to start by implementing socialism in our nation among our Volk! It is not until the individual nations are socialist that they can address themselves to international socialism.
  • The Revolution we have made is not a national revolution, but a National-Socialist Revolution. We would even underline this last word, "Socialist."
  • There is a difference between the theoretical knowledge of socialism and the practical life of socialism. People are not born socialists, but must first be taught how to become them.
  • I, on the other hand, have tried for two decades to build a new socialist order in Germany, with a minimum of interference and without harming our productive capacity.
As you can see, no adherent to this ideology has any place on the Right, nor can he reasonably describe himself as being Alt-Right. I direct your attention to the very first point of the Alt-Right:
  1. The Alt Right is of the political right in both the American and the European sense of the term. Socialists are not Alt Right. Progressives are not Alt Right. Liberals are not Alt Right. Communists, Marxists, Marxians, cultural Marxists, and neocons are not Alt Right.
Being socialists, national socialists of any stripe can never legitimately claim to be Alt Right.

UPDATE: I will be debating Greg Johnson about that contention. Tara McCarthy will host. More info about when it will be broadcast tomorrow.

Labour is a pro-rape party

British women are clearly less important than the sacred minorities dedicated to defiling them:
A Labour MP has resigned from the shadow cabinet after saying Britain has "a problem with British Pakistani men raping and exploiting white girls".

Sarah Champion, shadow women and equalities minister, apologised for her "extremely poor choice of words", which appeared in a column in The Sun newspaper on Friday.

The MP for Rotherham's piece was headlined: "British Pakistani men ARE raping and exploiting white girls... and it's time we faced up to it."

Her remarks came just days after 18 people were convicted of or admitted offences in a series of trials related to child sexual exploitation in Newcastle.

She wrote: "Britain has a problem with British-Pakistani men raping and exploiting white girls. There. I said it. Does that make me a racist? Or am I just prepared to call out this horrifying problem for what it is? For too long we have ignored the race of these abusers and, worse, tried to cover it up. No more. These people are predators and the common denominator is their ethnic heritage."
I wish I could say this is unbelievable. But it is only to be expected by the treacherous political class in Britain.

Choose your enemies wisely

If I were Jeff Bezos, I would consider this a fair warning and hasten to the White House to determine what the God-Emperor requires:
Donald Trump wiped around $5.7bn dollars off the stock market valuation of Amazon in less than two hours on Wednesday, with a tweet attacking the online retail giant for “doing great damage to tax paying retailers”.

Amazon’s shares lost 1.2 per cent of their value in pre-market trading after Mr Trump's comments.

The President tweeted: “Amazon is doing great damage to tax paying retailers. Towns, cities and states throughout the US are being hurt - many jobs being lost!”

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump
Amazon is doing great damage to tax paying retailers. Towns, cities and states throughout the U.S. are being hurt - many jobs being lost!
Now, Amazon has been absolutely great to us. We have not had a single problem with them outside of the one time an SJW employee abused the power of his position, and they handled the situation beautifully. No complaints at all.

But given how Google, Twitter, and PayPal have been behaving, it is important that Amazon not follow their lead into an SJW-converged death spiral.

On the Fake Right

Neither neocons nor national socialists are of the ideological Right. Both groups are 100 percent Fake Right and rely upon deceit to try to worm their way into the genuine Right to drum up support on the basis of a few points of commonality because they are defeated left-wing factions.

This is nothing new. I was writing about this in 2004.

"Over a third of the 1920 Munich Manifesto precisely matched goals put forth by the American Democratic party, and that percentage more than doubled if one eliminates the historical aspects of the Nazi platform that simply have no application today."

And before that, in 2003, I looked at the ideological spectrum on a party-by-party basis.

The most common error is to postulate a Communist left-wing extreme opposed by an extreme Nazi right wing. Not only does this leave out a substantial body of political and philosophical thought, but the construction falls apart the moment the two socialist ideologies are compared. Any reasonable comparison inevitably forces the confused advocates of such a definition to assert that the spectrum is actually a circle, in which case the terms left and right, much less left-wing and right-wing, are wholly nonsensical.

Nor is the original usage of much utility today, since it represented the fundamental division of the pre-revolutionary French national assembly. Since very few nations feature a monarchy these days, and even fewer political parties espouse positions with regards to the Bourbon kings, this definition is now defunct. And the notion of basing the spectrum on progress, of course, begs the Marxian question. In other words, progress toward what? The worker’s paradise?

To find a stronger foundation for a proper political spectrum, it is necessary to delve into intellectual history. Looking back to ancient Greece, one finds striking similarities between the collectivism of Plato’s Republic and modern leftist thought. And likewise, the close relationship between the Aristotelian regard for the individual, the American Bill of Rights and today’s Libertarian Party is equally hard to escape.

Taking this fundamental dichotomy between the supremacy of the community and the primacy of the individual as a starting point, it becomes relatively easy to determine where an individual or party happens to fall on the political spectrum if communism is accepted as the anchoring point for the extreme left wing. The figure below illustrates where some of the most familiar political philosophies fall upon the spectrum based on an analysis of what I consider to be the ten most significant elements affecting individuals and their relationship to their government, followed by a point-by-point breakdown of how these positions were determined.

The ten issues were: Religious Freedom, Right to Life, Gun Control, State Money Standard, Private Property, Freedom of the Press, National Sovereignty, Standing Army, State Schools, Central State Authority

The totals:

This is conclusive evidence that all National Socialists and all Alt-Reichtards are 100 percent Fake Right. They are not only to the Left of the Republicans, they are observably to the Left of the Democratic Party and the DNC.

Nor is the claim that they are pro-white even remotely convincing. First, the German national socialists killed more white people than anyone but their fellow left-wingers, the Communists. Second, the overwhelming majority of genuine national socialists in the world today are not white at all, they are Asian and Arab. And the Chinese version of national socialism both preceded and survived the German version.

Antifa = Alt Left

In one fell swoop, the God-Emperor changed the rhetorical game:
“What about the 'alt-left' that came charging at, as you say, the 'alt-right'? Do they have any semblance of guilt?” Trump said. “They came charging with clubs in their hands,” he said of the counter-protesters.

Trump effectively reopened the debate, despite insistence from politicians in both parties that white supremacists and other racists deserved to be singled out.

“You had a group on one side that was mad, and you had a group on the other side that was violent. Nobody wants to say that, but I’ll say that,” he said.

Trump defended the cause of those who gathered to protest the removal of a statue honoring Gen. Robert E. Lee and the Confederacy.

“Was George Washington a slave owner. So will George Washington lose his status?” he said. “What do you think of Thomas Jefferson? Do you like him? ... You’re changing history. You’re changing culture.”

While Trump condemned the driver who rammed the crowd and killed a counter-protester, he declined to label the action specifically as an act of terrorism.
That's the power of the bully pulpit. And that's the work of a master of rhetoric in action. Trump is right to decline to label the action of the driver as terrorism, because the chances are extremely good that he's never going to face trial.

This is not the first time someone has run over and killed protesters blocking the road. In previous cases, the drivers were found not guilty of any wrongdoing. No doubt the video of masked antifas smashing the car with metal bars is going to go a long way towards exculpating the killer driver.

Zaharan Darklord

Thanks very much to all of you who supported the ACKS kickstarter. Here is one of the rewards. From the designer: "It's a powerful class that oozes flavor and will likely see a lot of use in play." Here is an excerpt from how the Darklord class is translated into game terms. I am told the artwork will be suitably awesome and will post it when it is ready.

Zaharan Darklord
And those who perceived his shadow spreading over the world called him the Dark Lord and named him the Enemy; and he gathered under his government all the evil things that remained on earth or beneath it, and the Orcs were at his command and multiplied like flies.”
– Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age, The Silmarillion (J.R.R. Tolkien)
Prime Requisite: INT, CHA
Requirements: INT 9, WIS 9, CHA 9
Hit Dice: 1d4
Maximum Level: 11

From time to time, a Zaharan arises whose cruelty, ruthlessness, and lust for power are remarkable even for one of their dark race. Such a being is called a darklord, and he brings doom and woe to all who cross him. If left unchecked by Lawful heroes, a rising darklord will inevitably unite the vile minions of Chaos and usher in an era of war, ruin, and darkness.
Though they prefer to allow minions to fight for them, darklords are nevertheless formidable combatants. At first level, darklords hit an unarmored foe (AC 0) with an attack throw of 10+. Thereafter they advance in attack and saving throws by two points every four levels of experience (i.e., the same as clerics). Darklords can fight with battle axes, crossbows, great axes, maces, morning stars, and swords, often decorating their weapons with vile runes, bloody spikes, serrated edges, and other sinister decorations. Darklords can wear any armor up to and including plate (and can cast spells while so armored), and can fight with a weapon in each hand or with a two-handed weapon, but cannot use shields.
Like the Zaharan sorcerer, the darklord possesses the ability to learn and cast eldritch spells. The number and levels of spells the darklord can use in a single day are listed on the Darklord Spell Progression table. A darklord’s spell selection is limited to the spells in his repertoire. A darklord’s repertoire can include a number of spells up to the number and level of spells listed for his level, increased by his Intelligence bonus. All darklords can use any magic items usable by mages or clerics. More information on casting eldritch spells, and individual spell descriptions, can be found in the Magic chapter (p. XX).
However, the paramount power of the darklord is his ability to dominate beastmen. By calling upon his implacable will and magical strength, the darklord can command the vile minions of Chaos to do his bidding. The darklord must be visible to the beastmen and be able to speak a language they understand in order to dominate them. The potency of this ability is determined by level.
On the Dominate Beastmen table, there will be a dash, an “A”, an “X”, or a number corresponding to the Hit Dice of the beastman and the level of the darklord. A dash means that the darklord has not attained a high enough level to dominate beastmen of that HD. A number indicates that the player must roll that number or higher on 1d20 in order to dominate the beastmen. If the beastmen are already friendly to the darklord, he gains a +2 bonus to the throw. If the throw succeeds, the darklord dominates 2d6 total Hit Dice of beastmen for 1 turn per level of experience. An “A” (“automatic”) means that the darklord automatically dominates 2d6 total Hit Dice of beastmen for 1 turn per level. An “X” (“extended”) means that the darklord automatically dominates 2d6 total Hit Dice of beastmen for 1 day per level. At least one beastman will always be dominated, as appropriate, on a successful domination throw. If beastmen of mixed HD are present when the darklord attempts to dominate them, the weakest beastmen will be dominated first. When the darklord’s domination ends, the beastmen will flee from his presence for 10 rounds, following the best and fastest means available to them. If they cannot flee, they cower in terror, taking no actions and suffering a -2 penalty to AC.
EXAMPLE: Theophanous, a 5th level darklord, confronts a gang of five orcs (1 HD) accompanied by an orc champion (1+1 HD) from the Blood Eye tribe, accompanied by an ogre (4+1 HD). On his initiative, he attempts to dominate the beastmen. He automatically can dominate 1 HD orcs, but he needs to throw 4+ to dominate the orc champion and 13+ to dominate the ogre. He throws 1d20 and the result is 14. Therefore he has (potentially) dominated all the beastmen. Had he rolled, e.g., an 13 he would only have dominated the orcs and orc champion, and had he rolled a 3 or less he’d only have dominated the orcs. He now rolls 2d6 to determine the number of Hit Dice he has dominated and rolls a 7. Since the weakest beastmen must be dominated first, he dominates the five orcs and the orc champion (6.25 HD total) but not the ogre. Had he rolled an 11, he could have dominated the 4+1 HD ogre as well (10.5 HD total). In any case, the beastmen will remain under his domination for 1 turn per level, or 5 turns.
All Zaharan darklords possess certain inhuman benefits and drawbacks from their demoniac bloodline. First, Zaharan darklords are inexorable in the face of horrors that terrify normal men. They are immune to all natural and magical fear effects. Second, darklords benefit from the ancient pacts of service and obedience by which the lords of Zahar ensorcelled the dark powers of the world. Some creatures still remember these pacts and will aid Zaharans when commanded. All Zaharan darklords gain a +2 bonus to reaction rolls when encountering intelligent chaotic monsters. Intelligent chaotic monsters suffer a -2 penalty to saving throws against any charm spells cast by a Zaharan darklord.
Third, due to their background and training, all Zaharan darklords speak four dark tongues. In the Auran Empire campaign setting, these languages are Ancient Zaharan, Goblin, Orc, and Kemeshi. The Judge should substitute appropriate languages of his own devising for other campaigns.

Three and three

If conservatives, Republicans, and the Alt-Right want to survive the conflict with Antifa and the violent forces of globalism, then all of them would do very well to read this book: 4th Generation Warfare Handbook. I would strongly advise getting the paperback, both for future reference and the ability to share it with others.

This is not a practical guide. But it establishes core principles that need to be understood, from which specific practices and policies can be developed.

The Three Classic Levels of War

The three classic levels of war – strategic, operational, and tactical – still exist in Fourth Generation war. But all three are affected, and to some extent changed, by the Fourth Generation. One important change is that, while in the first three generations strategy was the province of generals, the Fourth Generation has given us the “strategic corporal.” These days, the actions of a single enlisted man can have strategic consequences, especially if they happen to take place when cameras are rolling.

What succeeds on the tactical level can easily be counter-productive at the operational and strategic levels. For example, by using their overwhelming firepower at the tactical level, state forces may in some cases intimidate the local population into fearing them and leaving them alone. But fear and hate are closely related, and if the local population ends up hating the state forces, that works toward their strategic defeat.

Fourth Generation war poses an especially difficult problem to operational art: put simply, it is difficult to operationalize. Often, Fourth Generation opponents have strategic centers of gravity that are intangible. These may involve proving their manhood to their comrades and local women, obeying the commandments of their religion, or demonstrating their tribe’s bravery to other tribes. Because operational art is the art of focusing tactical actions on enemy strategic centers of gravity, operational art becomes difficult or even impossible.

Three New Levels of War

While the three classic levels of war carry over into the Fourth Generation, they are joined there by three new levels which may ultimately be more important. Colonel Boyd identified these three new levels as the physical, the mental, and the moral levels. Furthermore, he argued that the physical level – killing people and breaking things – is the least powerful, the moral level is the most powerful, and the mental level lies between the other two. Colonel Boyd argued that this is especially true in guerrilla warfare, which is more closely related to Fourth Generation war than is formal warfare between state militaries. The history of guerrilla warfare, from the Spanish guerrilla war against Napoleon through Israel’s experience in southern Lebanon, supports Colonel Boyd’s observation.

This leads to the central dilemma of Fourth Generation war: what works for you on the physical (and sometimes mental) level often works against you at the moral level. It is therefore very easy to win all the tactical engagements in a Fourth Generation conflict yet still lose the war. To the degree you win at the physical level by utilizing firepower that causes casualties and property damage to the local population, every physical victory may move you closer to moral defeat, and the moral level is decisive.

Some examples from the American experience in Iraq help illustrate the contradiction between the physical and moral levels:
  • The U. S. Army conducted many raids on civilian homes in areas it occupied. In these raids, the troops physically dominated the civilians. Mentally, they terrified them. But at the moral level, breaking into private homes in the middle of the night, terrifying women and children, and sometimes treating detainees in ways that publicly humiliated them (like stepping on their heads) worked powerfully against the Americans. An enraged population responded by providing the Iraqi resistance with more support at each level of war, physical, mental, and moral.
  • At Baghdad’s Abu Ghraib prison, MPs and interrogators dominated prisoners physically and mentally – as too many photographs attest. But when that domination was publicly exposed, the United States suffered an enormous defeat at the moral level. Some American commanders recognized this when they referred to the soldiers responsible for the abuse as, “the jerks who lost us the war.”
  • In Iraq and elsewhere, American troops (other than Special Forces) quickly establish base camps that mirror American conditions: air conditioning, good medical care, plenty of food and pure water. The local people are not allowed into the bases except in service roles. Physically, the American superiority over the lives the locals lead is overwhelming. Mentally, it projects the power and success of American society. But morally, the constant message of “we are better than you” works against the Americans. Traditional cultures tend to put high values on pride and honor, and when foreigners seem to sneer at local ways, the locals may respond by defending their honor in a traditional manner – by fighting. After many, if not most, American military interventions, Fourth Generation war has tended to intensify and spread rather than contract.
The practice of a successful Fourth Generation entity, al-Qaeda, offers an interesting contrast. Osama bin Laden, who came from a wealthy family, lived for years in an Afghan cave. In part, this was for security. But bin Laden’s choice also reflected a keen understanding of the power of the moral level of war. By sharing the hardships and dangers of his followers, Osama bin Laden drew a sharp contrast at the moral level with the leaders of local states, and also with senior officers in most state armies.

The contradiction between the physical and moral levels of war in Fourth Generation conflicts is similar to the tension between the tactical and strategic levels, but the two are not identical. The physical, mental, and moral levels all play at each of the three classic levels – tactical, operational, and strategic. Any disharmony among levels creates openings which Fourth Generation opponents will be quick to exploit.

Mailvox: the Pope of the Alt-Right

WS complained about my detached and contemplative approach.
Maybe Vox figures he's the Pope Benedict of the Alt-Right: the one who leads a contemplative life and assures us of his thoughts and prayers as we're getting the snot beaten out of us.
I found it mildly amusing that she thought I was thinking about them at all. There is a reason why I didn't know who Jason Kessler was until yesterday. It was because I paid absolutely no attention to the rally in Charlottesville, despite apparently having been invited to speak there, until it made the news.

Neither Clausewitz nor van Creveld ever commanded in the field. Karl Marx was considerably more influential as an author than as a labor organizer. And it seems unlikely that Alexander the Great's astonishing military success was entirely unrelated to the fact that he happened to have the greatest thinker in Man's history as his personal tutor.

In light of the surprising discovery that the front man for the so-called "Unite the Right" rally was a left-wing Obama voter, I've been giving some thought to the assertions of some of the petty self-proclaimed national socialists that they are too of the right. In this vein, I thought it would be profitable to consult Leon Trotsky on the matter. His thoughts, expressed in the dramatically titled, but perceptive essay "The Fascist Danger Looms in Germany" are thought-provoking, if less useful than one might have assumed.
In order that the social crisis may bring about the proletarian revolution, it is necessary that, besides other conditions, a decisive shift of the petty bourgeois classes occurs in the direction of the proletariat. This gives the proletariat a chance to put itself at the head of the nation as its leader.

The last election revealed -- and this is where its principle symptomatic significance lies -- a shift in the opposite direction. Under the blow of the crisis, the petty bourgeoisie swung, not in the direction of the proletarian revolution, but in the direction of the most extreme imperialist reaction, pulling behind it considerable sections of the proletariat.

The gigantic growth of National Socialism is an expression of two factors: a deep social crisis, throwing the petty bourgeois masses off balance, and the lack of a revolutionary party that would be regarded by the masses of the people as an acknowledged revolutionary leader. If the communist Party is the party of revolutionary hope, then fascism, as a mass movement, is the party of counter-revolutionary despair. When revolutionary hope embraces the whole proletarian mass, it inevitably pulls behind it on the road of revolution considerable and growing sections of the petty bourgeoisie. Precisely in this sphere the election revealed the opposite picture: counter-revolutionary despair embraced the petty bourgeois mass with such a force that it drew behind it many sections of the proletariat....

Fascism in Germany has become a real danger, as an acute expression of the helpless position of the bourgeois regime, the conservative role of the social democracy in this regime, and the accumulated powerlessness of the Communist Party to abolish it. Whoever denies this is either blind or a braggart....

The danger acquires particular acuteness in connection with the question of the tempo of development, which does not depend upon us alone. The malarial character of the political curve revealed by the election speaks for the fact that the tempo of development of the national crisis may turn out to be very speedy. In other words, the course of events in the very near future may resurrect in Germany, on a new historical plane, the old tragic contradiction between the maturity of a revolutionary situation, on the one hand, and the weakness and strategical impotence of the revolutionary party, on the other.
Now, there is without question a social crisis across the West. A severe social crisis of historic proportions, arguably more serious than the one of the previous century. But in every case, the big bourgeoisie is allied with government bureaucracies and the ur-communists in revolutionary hope while both the petty bourgeoisie and the proletariat are increasingly inclined towards counter-revolutionary despair. Moreover, the class metric is largely irrelevant, because the dividing lines are far more clearly identified on identity grounds than on class grounds.

In other words, from the Trotskyite perspective, we're in new territory here, and more sophisticated philosophical tools are required for useful analysis and prediction. But it is already clear that neither simple identity metrics nor conventional ideological metrics will alone suffice.

Neocons 2.0

When I said it's not punching right to criticize the Alt-Reichtards, I had no idea how correct I was to use the term Fake Right.
Only a year ago, white supremacist and ‘Unite the Right’ leader, Jason Kessler, was said to be a supporter of former President Obama and the Occupy movement. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Kessler revealed his political transformation around November 2016, the same month then-candidate Donald Trump won the presidential election. In November, 2016, Kessler displayed a rightward shift according to SPLC during an attack on Charlottesville vice mayor Wes Bellamy who posted racist and vulgar tweets in 2011 and 2012.
Didn't we already go through this once before? How did that turn out for the Right?

Now, I'm all in favor of people seeing the light and all, but I suggest that accepting these enthusiastic newcomers in positions of leadership is far from the wisest course of action. Especially when they have demonstrated that they are manifestly unprepared for it. I'm not saying there is no place for them on the Right, merely that one should think twice, or perhaps three times, before placing any confidence in them.

Criticizing these guys isn't punching right. There are birds in my yard that have been right-wing longer than them. They are not even to the right of the average cuckservative. This may explain why, when I had Richard Spencer on Brainstorm, we were all surprised to discover that he was to nearly everyone's left.

Identity politics are in the process of replacing ideology politics, but that means that ideology is no longer the sole metric, not that it is entirely irrelevant.

More detail in tonight's Darkstream.

Stupidity is no substitute for strategy

This Darkstream should amuse the Men of the West, who were arguing all along that the Alt-Reich were simply incapable of possessing any utility for defending America or the West. I thought they were extremists, but as it happens, they are nothing more than attention-seekers interested in "bantz" and "triggering the faggits" and "edgy" symbolism rather than actually seeking to win the cultural war.

It's not "counter-signaling" or "punching right" to reject counterproductive morons who stubbornly refuse to learn anything from one failure after another. I stand by every single one of the 16 Points of the Alt-Right. But I have no more time or patience to spare for strategically-deficient cosplayers. Even Andrew Anglin appears to recognize this now.

"Publicly aligning ourselves to an old and extinct political movement is not forward thinking, and it isn’t fresh... NS was a Hitler personality cult, when it comes right down to it."

The Reichtards are Fake Right. Their claim to be the One True Alt-Right is totally laughable, as they are pro-EU, pro-single payer health insurance socialists. Punching them is punching Left.

Hence today's Meme of the Day.

Economic war

The culture war in the USA goes economic:
A white nationalist was fired from his job after Twitter users began naming and shaming alt-right supporters involved in yesterday's deadly Charlottesville rally. The rally - which was described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as 'the largest hate-gathering of its kind in decades in the United States' - attracted thousands from neo-Nazi groups, the Ku Klux Klan and other far-right organizations.

It also culminated in a horrifying alleged attack on a group of antifascist counter-protesters as alleged white supremacist James Alex Fields Jr allegedly drove into a crowd, killing one person and injuring 19 more.

As the reverberations of that deadly assault continued to be felt on Sunday, Twitter user Yes, You're Racist began naming and shaming those who were photographed waving torches and allying themselves with violent far-right extremists.
Tit-for-tat is now in order. Do you have an employee who supports Black Lives Matter on Twitter? Fire them. Do you have any employees who are SJWs? Fire them. Anyone who puts rainbows on Facebook? Fire them.

If James Damore and Cole White can be fired for their beliefs, so can everyone else. Once a tactic has been legitimized by the Left, don't hesitate to use it. The Left has made it very clear that peaceful coexistence is no longer possible, so stop trying to coexist with them.

This development isn't something to fear. Why are they doing this now? Because they are terrified of the gathering momentum and they are desperate to somehow stop it.

Meanwhile, (((Ben Shapiro))) is still lying about the Alt-Right. It is correct to say that it includes white nationalists, but it is blatantly false to claim that it is entirely white nationalists, or that it is a white supremacist philosophy.

The fact that our enemies feel the need to lie about us and misrepresent our views is one of the strongest indicators that our views are convincing and catching on with more and more former conservatives and libertarians and liberals alike.

Meanwhile, GoDaddy signs up for Google's economic war on everyone to the right of SJW.
We informed The Daily Stormer that they have 24 hours to move the domain to another provider, as they have violated our terms of service.

SJWs are the Tolkienian devil

They create nothing. Like Melkor, all they can do is corrupt, pervert, and destroy. SF/F Grandmaster John C. Wright waxes wroth in response to the SJW version of The Shadow:
Dynamite Comics just put out a new version of The Shadow. The Shadow is and has been my most deeply beloved character of my imaginative life.

They turned him into an SJW who lectures villains on their white privilege.

I am not making this up.

While in the middle of gunning down two Virginia Tech style mass murderers, The SJW Shadow tells them that they were born atop a pedistal of privilege, and their loss of power when the minorities lives improve erodes their “empire”, which is what drives them to their crimes.

Except that the shooter at Virginia Tech was Korean. Columbine guys were white, but were leftwing atheists, not angry white men. The Left yearns so badly to blame white men for mass murders, that they usually report the shooter is a Tea Party member. And it usually turns out to be a jihadist, or a Bernie supporter. But in a comic, the Leftist can reverse the polarity of reality, and have the most proto-Objectivist hardcore vigilante in comicbookdom turn into a morally ambiguous Antifas lefteroon.

The comic also pauses to have the viewpoint character, a Hispanic woman, say that there are no heroes in life, merely violent men. Heroes are merely gangsters in white hats.

Interesting message to put in a story about the most iconic vigilante of all time, the human version of an archangel of merciless wrath-of-heavenly vengeance.

And a thinly disguised version of President Trump appears on the telly in the background, as evidence of the sickness of the world for daring to regard good as better than evil.
I can guarantee this is not happening with Alt-Hero. We will create. We will make anew. There will be heroes and there will be villains.

Coming soon.

Ben Shapiro's Twitterfesto

The Littlest Chickenhawk's take on the Alt-Right. He's concerned about the media lumping him in with us. To be fair, he's right. He's not one of us.
The so-called alt-right is an evil movement having nothing to do with - and actively opposing - Constitutional conservatism. (1)

They've done an excellent job, with the media's ignorant help, of portraying themselves as large and powerful (2)

And broadening their definition to include anyone who is anti-establishment or just likes memes. That's not what they are. (3)

The alt-right has a very definite philosophy, articulated by people like Spencer, Taylor, and Vox Day (4)

And excused and popularized by people like Milo YIannopoulos. They were successful online in convincing key figures that they were (5)

An important constituency. Immoral politicians and advisors then made the conscious decision not to carve them off. (6)

Yes, that includes Trump and Bannon. (7)

Three elements assure their continued growth: pandering politicians and media figures catering to or ignoring them; (8)

Left-wingers labeling all right-wingers alt-right and therefore leading innocent people to believe that alt-right Judy means right; (9)

And left-wing violent groups like Antifa that drive fools into the belief that anyone who fights Antifa is necessarily an ally. (10)

We're watching a tiny microcosm replay of brownshirts vs. reds in Weimar Germany. They're even carrying the same flags. (11)

And leadership in media and especially the White House must actively and thunderously condemn the evil we're watching metastasize. (END)
That's all more or less true, up until point 8. We're not dependent upon politicians and media figures catering to and ignoring us. That doesn't even make sense. The best thing that ever happened to the Alt-Right was being actively denounced by Hillary Clinton.

And our continued growth is assured, not due to points 8, 9, and 10, but because Ben, and the cuckservatives, and the constitutional conservatives will not lift a finger to defend white Americans, or the European nations, from the globalist demographic assault of the last 52 years. To the contrary, they support that ongoing assault, with varying degrees of enthusiasm.

It's too late, liberals

White liberals are beginning to realize that Diversity doesn't care about their ideology, but fully intends to devour them too:
I’m a white man, so you should listen to absolutely nothing I say, at least on matters of social justice. I have no standing. No way to relate. My color and gender nullify me, and it gets worse: I grew up in the suburbs. Dad made six figures. We had a backyard pool. From the 10th through 12th grades, I attended private school. So the only proper way for me to check my privilege is to realize that it blinds me to others’ struggles and should gag me during discussions about the right responses to them.

But wait. I’m gay. And I mean gay from a different, darker day. In that pool and at that school, I sometimes quaked inside, fearful of what my future held. Back then — the 1970s — gay stereotypes went unchallenged, gay jokes drew hearty laughter and exponentially more Americans were closeted than out. We conducted our lives in whispers. Then AIDS spread, and we wore scarlet letters as we marched into the public square to plead with President Ronald Reagan for help. Our rallying cry, “silence = death,” defined marginalization as well as any words could.

So where does that leave me? Who does that make me? Oppressor or oppressed? Villain or victim? And does my legitimacy hinge on the answer?

To listen to some of the guardians of purity on the left, yes....

At the beginning of this column I shared the sorts of personal details that register most strongly with those Americans who tuck each of us into some hierarchy of blessedness and affliction. So you know some important things about me, but not the most important ones: how I responded to the random challenges on my path, who I met along the way, what I learned from them, the degree of curiosity I mustered and the values that I honed as a result.

Those construct my character, and shape my voice, to be embraced or dismissed on its own merits. My gayness no more redeems me than my whiteness disqualifies me. And neither, I hope, defines me.
They rode the tiger. They used the tiger to attack their ideological enemies. Now the tiger is devouring them, and they still don't have the discernment to identify the enemy or the courage to fight it.

SJWs always project

And what they are projecting is fear. Lots and lots of fear. SF-SJW David Gerrold rants on Facebook:
"After my initial flash of anger more than two years ago, I have said little about rabid puppies, sad puppies, and their pathetic efforts to stuff the various ballot boxes for awards.

Several reasons. I consider their "movement" to be a sad desperate effort by angry little men, and because I have more important things to do than invest energy in self-destructive attention-bores. And finally, because negativity in some creates negativity in others — the only way to win that game is to not play.

But while the rabid puppies movement in SF is a mostly unimportant flicker, eventually to be forgotten as a momentary annoyance, it still has to be seen as a symptom of something worse, the rise of neo-nazis tactics in the national conversation.

It's no accident that Vox Bray and Milo Yiannazinuts are working off the same page. They are not "the alt-right" — that's a euphemism. They're not just assholes, committed to specific cultural disruptions, they're shit-magnets, hoping to create power by attracting the worst of the worst
as followers.

This week, the so-called "alt-right" have revealed themselves to be the fault-right. They have paraded through the streets of an American city waving the flags of treason and genocide.

Americans of good will have the right to be concerned. We have the right to be frustrated. And finally, we have the right to be justifiably angry at the behavior of spoiled little white boys.

The tiki-torch marchers have revealed themselves to be political illiterates, historically ignorant, and little more than a cluster of desperate little wannabe bullies. Their shouts of defiance are intended to intimidate the rest of us into fearful silence.

It won't work.

Okay, it'll work for a while. This week's exercises in torch-waving and dick-waggling will inspire other, equally silly demonstrations of disloyalty to the American ideal.

But eventually — and it cannot come too soon for me — the men and women who have actually taken an oath to defend the United States and its Constitution will be called upon to deal with this attempt to create a new Civil War.

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would argue that there are groups in this nation committed not only to a new Civil War, but ultimately the destruction of the United States government and the Constitution, so that they can replace it with a theocratic fascism.

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would trace all this back to the Fred Koch's funding of the John Birch Society and I would point out that the game plan they've been following for fifty years can be found in the Blue Book and the Black Book of that group — the English translations of Mein Kampf.

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would further argue that the failure of the police to act against these thugs is a result of a decades-long campaign to infiltrate police departments with white supremacists.

But one doesn't have to be a conspiracy theorist to see the dangers inherent in the neo-nazi tactics of those who falsely believe that their time has come. They are an ugly political minority, a cancer on the American soul.

We have not yet found our new Gandhi, our new Martin Luther King, our new Harvey Milk — but there will come a day when the rest of us find our voice and draw a line in the sand. Perhaps we need not a single voice, but a whole chorus of voices speaking out, calling shame on those who have become enemies of the very nation that nurtured them and protected their freedom.

The United States is a nation of immigrants, it is a nation whose strength is diversity. The promise of America is liberty and justice for all. When the all of us are ready to confront the some of us, there will likely be violence, that's what they are working toward, that's why they are working themselves into a blather — but if the last Civil War couldn't break the Union, I doubt very much that this latest rabble of desperate and pathetic little losers will accomplish anything useful, except perhaps to give themselves further reasons to fester in self-destructive bitterness. They are pathetic, desperate, fearful little men."
Another thing I noticed. SJWs not only always project, they're always waiting for someone else to show up and do their fighting for them.

Riot police called out in Charlottesville

#Charlottesville city officials have declared a local emergency.

Per Pax:

Antifa attacked the rally and the police declared it an unlawful assembly and ordered us to disperse. #UnitetheRight /1

We were prepared to engage in civil disobedience and be arrested. I was on a line with Baked Alaska, Spencer, Damigo, and a few others. /2

The state police refused to arrest us. They assaulted us, knocked our guys down, and pepper sprayed us. /3

The police pushed us into a hostile crowd of antifa. They wanted to create a violent situation. /4

We had to battle our way out, I saw people bleeding and a lot of pepper spray casualties. /5

I think we might have done too much winning last night and they decided we couldn't be allowed to speak today. I await comment from ACLU. /6

I don't understand why the lesson of Berkeley with regards to the police didn't register, but regardless, it should be eminently clear that peaceful protest by the Right will not be permitted.

Red Ice hacked

This is not surprising. Castalia House has been under continuous assault since the day we came out in support of GamerGate almost two years ago:

Replying to @Henrik_Palmgren @YourAnonNews @IGD_News
Red Ice TV is #TangoDown All servers/backups wiped. 23,000 member database stolen. MAJOR DOX INCOMING!!! @NYCAntifa @YourAnonNews @IGD_News
If you're Alt-Right, or even Alt-Lite, better get in the habit of practicing proper operational security. 16-digit randomized passwords on everything, different passwords for everything, and so forth. I doubt this is an accident given that it is just one day after Lana Loktoff was featured in a Harper's piece on the women of the Alt-Right.

It looks like both their Twitter account and their main site was hacked, which suggests the same password was used for both.

Publisher's perspective

From Publisher's Weekly:
Unit sales of adult nonfiction increased 4%, led by Ready or Not!, a new cookbook by Michelle Tam and Henry Fong, which sold more than 20,200 copies in its first week. The book just beat out Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur, which sold 20,003 copies (both Ready or Not! and Milk and Honey are published by Andrews McMeel). Unit sales in adult fiction fell 6% compared to last year. The book that made the biggest splash was Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks, which sold just under 22,000 copies in its first week, putting it in second place on the category bestseller list.
This is interesting, because our more successful books are normally expected to do around 2,000 copies in their first week. SJWADD should top that without too much trouble. So, while we still have a long way to go, we are about one-tenth of the way to the top already. Not bad for Year Three.

The underperformers of Google

Further evidence that the Ivy League's affirmative action is rewarding the undeserving and the underperforming:
A Google Research project indicating that underrepresented minorities and Ivy League graduates were more likely to receive softball interviews at the company was shut down by Google’s human resources department upon seeing the results, according to an insider.

The Google insider (alias “Chuck”), who worked at the company for several years, was part of a team tasked with determining which Google employees were most likely to succeed at the company based on their interview feedback.

According to Chuck, the predictive model they created determined that employees who received mixed feedback at the interview stage performed far better than those who received only good feedback.

Those who were most likely to receive only good feedback (“inflated interview scores,” in the words of Chuck) tended to be Ivy League graduates or underrepresented minorities. Those who were most likely to receive mixed feedback (and, according to the model, go on to achieve the most success at Google) were more likely to be white and Asian men who did not go to Ivy League schools.

The insider’s team had been tasked with the project by Google’s HR department, but according to him, they promptly shut it down once they realized its results would not serve their goals.
Google is an SJW-converged organization at war with reality. That is why it is doomed.

Unite the White

The media and the multiculti Left are gearing up for a new offensive in its war against the Alt-Right:
Unite the Right, Divide the Nation

Perhaps most troubling are the group dynamics at work here, which are indicative of an identity movement’s spiral towards violent extremism. Though the groups that will coalesce in Charlottesville represent a spectrum of far-right viewpoints, they all share a common goal: Redefining the boundaries of the American identity — i.e., what it means to be a “real” American, and who gets to be included in that group.

This process involves several steps, the first of which is framing the identity of the “in-group” (those deemed to be “real” Americans) as inseparable from the derogation of an “out-group” (those who aren’t included in an increasingly narrow construction of American identity). The groups that make up the Unite the Right rally have differing perspectives on exactly where to draw the line separating the in-group from the out-group. The definition of the out-group is flexible and may include Muslims, immigrants, Jews, African Americans, liberals, feminists, and more. This so-called “fluidity of groups” often accompanies the transition to extremism.
But that's just it. Paper Americans are not real Americans. They are Mexican. They are Chinese. They are Jews. They are already members of a nation that is not the American nation. And the myths of "proposition nations" and "nations of immigrants" "Judeo-Christian America" and "Black Roman Britain" notwithstanding, they will remain members of that distinct and sovereign nation regardless of where they reside.

A dog does not become a horse by virtue of being born in a stable.

It is not merely the Right that is being forcibly united whether it will or not. The next generation is already divided into White Americans and Not-White Not-Americans. Note, in particular, the difference between White girls and Black-Hispanic-Asian girls.

Now, all of the White cucks, conservatives, and liberals will still cluck and posture about how they are colorblind and so forth. But unlike the tango, it doesn't take two to war or identity-politick. All politics in the USA are now identity politics, whether people realize it or not.

The following is an excerpt from one of the many hilarious stories in LawDog's second straight bestseller, THE LAWDOG FILES: AFRICAN ADVENTURES.

Many, MANY moons ago—and don’t even ask, ’cause I won’t tell you—when I was still a pup, the family lived in Nigeria. We had a bungalow at the Odibo Estates, out near the Biafran border. Every evening peddlers, called traders, used to walk up and down the main road, offering various knick-knacks and merchandise for sale or trade.

Ali Cheap-Cheap was one of the busier traders, and he spent a lot of time on our front porch haggling with Mom. Now, Ali Cheap-Cheap was very proud of his ability to acquire just about anything you might want or need.

One evening, Mom was visiting on the front porch with the visiting wife of one of the English engineers. Said wife had never been outside of London before, and as a consequence, she loathed Africa. She and Mom were chattering and griping when along came Ali Cheap-Cheap. Old Ali Cheap-Cheap didn’t have anything that Mom or the English lady wanted, so, before he wandered off, he asked if, “Madams want for anything?”

The English lady got a funny look in her eye, tapped her snake-hide purse and said, “I want one of these.” “Yes, madam,” replied Ali, and off he trotted.

About three weeks later, Mom and her new English friend were on the front porch again, when along came Ali Cheap-Cheap. With a friend. Ali and friend had a cane pole slung over their shoulders, and there was a burlap bag hanging from said pole.

Now, at this point I should mention that also on the front porch, in addition to the two ladies, was a Mongoose-a-minium, in which lived our pet kusimanse, or as it is known to science, Helogale parvula, the pygmy mongoose. This Mongoose-a-minium had a Plexiglas ceiling which Dad had assured us was unbreakable.

Up to the porch came Ali Cheap-Cheap and his buddy.

Mom was eyeing the burlap bag with some trepidation, having had some nasty experiences with what the locals tended to store in burlap bags, when Ali and buddy proudly lifted it and announced to the English lady, “Oh, madam! We have your beef!”

I should interject here that “beef” is bush slang for any animal.

Wait for it.

Mom had risen to her full height, and was about to order Ali to get his beef away from her house, when Squeaker, our pygmy mongoose, wandered out of his apartment, and screamed in sheer outrage. It was always amazing how much sheer volume that little hairball could put out. Ali and his buddy were startled by the shriek and dropped the burlap sack onto the Plexiglass roof of Squeaker’s residence.

The unbreakable glass promptly shattered and caused the burlap sack and its contents to fall into the Mongoose-a-minium. It turned out that inside said sack was one observably scared 15-foot python.

Squeaker, who was about the size and girth of a tennis ball, offered up a brief prayer to the Mongoose God for the meal he was about to partake of, and latched onto the snake’s tail with tooth and claw.

The snake discovered that he has been dumped into a place which reeks of mongoose, panicked and attempted to slide up the side of the Mongoose-a-minium and down onto the porch, but was hindered in doing so by Squeaker, who was not only still firmly attached to the python’s tail, but was bracing all four legs against the wall to prevent his meal from getting away.

Did I mention that the snake was approximately fifteen feet long?

Squeaker didn’t even slow him down.

The python hit the porch floor with Squeaks gnawing away at his tail like a chipmunk on speed, and noticed that, in the interest of ventilation, the sliding glass door in the front of our house was open about six inches.

Yep. You guessed it. In goes the snake.

Now, Dad and one of his Brit buddies named Tom were sitting in the house, drinking whiskey-and-sodas. Tom looked down and saw several yards of snake whip by, shrieked, and made a flat-footed, sitting-down leap all the way from the sofa to the top of the bar. Whereupon he proceeded to utter genteel curses upon all and sundry at the top of his lungs.

Dad looked down, lifted his feet, ensured that his drink didn’t tip over, and watched the snake haul scales with bemused interest. Dad didn’t ruffle easily.

And yes, things just got crazier from there. If you haven't acquired a copy of LawDog's African adventures yet, you really must. It's genuinely THAT funny.

Mailvox: IT in a converged company

It will be poisonous if the tech right feels compelled to not only hide their beliefs but also to actively pretend to believe in progressive diversity values. This pretending will embitter them, probably pushing many to the more radical alt-right

This is EXACTLY what happened to me!

One HR director in particular was hard-core SJW and good friends with one of my managers so I was stuck.  One of the things she did that still sticks in my mind was an online training/brainwashing course where 1) we HAD to pass it in order to remain employed and we were told that this was because it was the company's responsibility to demonstrate nondiscrimination in order to meet federal requirements - which was, first of all, bullcrap, and second, a way to shift the responsibility for the nonsense onto the employees. 2) it contained questions such as "Check the boxes next to groups which are discriminated against" and "white men" was an incorrect answer.  You could select it, and it would just make you redo the question over and over until you gave the "right" answer.

I wasn't familiar at the time with Vaclav Havel's "Power of the Powerless" but he totally nailed what was going on: the point wasn't to make us believe something we didn't agree with, the point was to make us complicit.

My reaction - which SHOULD have been to quit and find another job, but I wasn't wise enough yet - was to manipulate my own responsibilities and the work that needed doing such that I could get everything done for the week in a couple hours, then spend the rest of the time goofing off and surfing the net.  Not a good use of time on my part; a worse use of employee resources by the people in charge.  My morale basically went to zero for several years as a result of these sorts of policies, and the value they got out of me correlated.

I'm out of IT now.  I've gotten the impression this sort of problem is too widespread for me to want to put up with it.

Why I don't go to conventions

This pretty much covers it, in a nutshell.

Romance and the Power of the Female Gaze panel with Donna Maree Hanson, Carrie Vaughn, Nick Hubble and Cassandra Rose Clarke. #Worldcon75

Ye cats. I don't care how big and influential Castalia House becomes in the future. You will never, ever, see me at one of those things. My one experience 20 years ago at MiniCon was considerably more than enough for me.

Besides, I have far more important things to do. Tonight, two teams from my soccer club are playing a friendly; the veterans are playing the men's second team. I am the starting left wing for the former, while Ender is a starter for the latter. The kid is brimming with confidence, claiming his team just has to keep it close until the second half, when they're counting on us running out of gas. It's not a bad strategy, since we probably have an average of 16 years per player on them. Our oldest player is a few months older than me, and he's 22 years older than their oldest player.

I realized how much is on the line when I ran into the star of the first team yesterday. He asked if I was playing, and when I said that I was, said that he'd see me there. I was a little surprised (and concerned, since he is exceptional), but he explained that most of the first team guys are coming to watch. Which means the losers will not hear the end of it any time soon.

Diversity in tech

A 5-time IT manager with 26 years of experience explains the reality of diversity in technology
Large Tech Company - Team of 11

Diversity policy that caused me a lot of problems. I didn't have the proper control over who I could interview and my main problem was finding competent engineers regardless of race or sex. I did end up interviewing a very diverse set of candidates which made the process extra grueling as I wasted time with so many under-qualified diversity candidates.

Some of these diversity interviews were my most memorable for how bad the candidates were. As an example an Indian woman with a very impressive resume and monster SQL background. Only interview I ended after 10 minutes because the candidate asked me what SELECT meant in an example statement I white boarded and asked her to correct. Turns out the recruiting company had rewritten her resume for her and she was just a blatant diversity candidate. I complained to my manager about this as a waste of my time and was reminded my team was all white and with only one female.

I did so many interviews I knew were I waste of my time that I started just trying a few new techniques on the candidates as interview practice for myself. It was such a waste of time for myself and the candidate and I felt bad wasting time but I had no choice. There was no chance I would hire them but HR's method of forcing diversity just kept tossing bad candidates at me.

I eventually worked around the process by finding my own candidates and secretly pushing them through the screening process. I could have been fired for this but my resource problem was so bad I didn't have a choice.

For unrelated reasons I left that position. The single female on my team was promoted to take my place, against my recommendation. She was a pretty good engineer but had no experience managing and the team fell apart less then a year after I left. All my former team members all told me it was due to the ruthless micromanagement by my replacement. In my experience, micromanagement is the behavior of a lot of new managers thrust into a job that is too big for them to handle regardless of sex/race. Also, I never filled the SQL dev position but my replacement did hire a different Indian women as the SQL dev. I did hear she was incompetent and fired after 6 months.

I learned from this to always have full hiring control of my team or be doomed to fail.
Contra this, Google's CEO, Pichai Sundararajan doubled down and claimed Google "really need to have people internally who represent the world in its totality. And yet, the company has yet to implement a policy of aggressively hiring Nazis, Eskimos, Christians, or Mbenga bushmen from Cameroon.
“To the girls who dream of being an engineer or an entrepreneur, and who dream of creating amazing things, I want you to know that there’s a place for you in this industry, there’s a place for you at Google,” he told the crowd gathered at a company recreation field. “Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise,” he said to cheers and applause. “You belong here and we need you.”

Pichai told the audience, which included about 50 contest finalists from seven countries including the U.S., that seeing the girls gave him hope for the future.

“At Google we are very committed to building products for everyone in the world,” Pichai said. “To do that well, we really need to have people internally who represent the world in totality. It’s really important that more women and girls have the opportunity to participate in technology, to learn how to code, create and innovate.”
Both perspectives can't be correct.
